Fusion Troubadors the Macpodz Deliver “Disco Bebop” on Spring Tour The next generation of jazz musicians bring rock n roll showmanship to the Northeast.

(Ithaca, NY, 03/20/11) -- This quintet from Ann Arbor musters the most energetic music on the scene today. The Macpodz 2011 Spring Tour showcases their trumpet, keyboards, bass, drums and percussion, creating a sound built on the core of genuine American music and tasteful touches of world groove.

“The Macpodz impress as only an open minded band can,” said, naming thegroup Unsigned Band of the Week in November 2010. The band possesses, “funky sound,bouncy energy and jazz influences that range from Medeski, Martin and Wood to CharlieHunter and Dr. John.” (Relix, Oct ’09) Fusion magazine calls the Macpodz, "an originalaggressive spin on America’s greatest musical achievement.” Radio play on the Sirius station “Jam On,” has fueled crowds at Rothbury, Bear Creek,Summer Camp, All Good, Moe.Down and Gathering of the Vibes festival stages.

Their jam vehicle “Followaduby” won a place on Relix Magazine’s March 2009 compilation disc. The Macpodz have guested with such notables as Moe., Umphrey’s McGee, Fareed Haque, That One Guy and The Breakfast. The Macpodz will appear on Sunday March 20th at Castaways, located at 413 Taughannock Blvd, Ithaca, NY. Tickets are $10 and 18+ ages are welcome.
