STRATHMORE ANNOUNCES 24 NEW CONCERTS FOR 2011-2012 SEASON

 NORTH BETHESDA, MD – Strathmore today announced the addition of 24 concerts in the Music Center and Mansion to its 2011-12 season. The crop of new concerts raises the total number of performances for the season to 100, growing what was already Strathmore’s most robust and full season to date. 

                  The new additions feature 10 artists making their debut on the Music Center stage, including Allen Toussaint and Aaron Neville, Yasmin Levy, Kevin Costner and Modern West and the Creole Choir of Cuba. A suite of holiday concerts swelling Strathmore’s winter performances include Jim Brickman, Dave Koz, the 5 Browns and the Skaggs Family. Mary Oliver and Billy Collins, two of the most-published contemporary poets, enhance Strathmore’s menu of non-musical programming. Strathmore continues to expand its reputation as a venue for popular artists with a number of nationally-touring performers such as the Indigo Girls and Bryan Adams, typically reserved for sell-out club concerts, seeking out the superior acoustics of the Music Center.
                  
Tickets for the Indigo Girls, Creole Choir of Cuba, Lena Seikaly, The Capital Hearings, Dave Bass, Bohemian Caverns Jazz Orchestra and Lynn Hollifield are now on sale to the public.
                     
All additional concerts are on sale now to Strathmore Stars, the art center’s philanthropic program that supports arts programming, education programs and community outreach projects. Tickets will be available to the general public beginning on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 10 a.m.

This voice-and-percussion choir is made up of Cuban descendents of Haitians who have preserved their language and traditions across centuries.
